Teschner develop MTB prototype frame

Peter Teschner and his design team have been spending some time developing this mountain bike frame. The frame is currently being tested in Belgium and the initial feedback is very positive. If all goes well the frame could be on sale in early 2012. Keep checking our blog for latest developments and photos.

Body2Bike - Belgium

Body2Bike is a leading fitting studio in Belgium and has many professional bike riders as it clients. The business is run by husband and wife team of Henk and Robyn van Lijsdonk.

Henk has worked for Team CSC, among others, as their lead mechanic and has built a formidable reputation as a bike fitter. Robyn has also worked for Team CSC and British Cycling and is currently completing her training as an Osteopath.

It was my pleasure to stay with Henk and Robyn for 2 days to learn some of their techniques that have proved to be so successful. As a bike fitter you can never learn enough and to be able to have such an insight into Body2Bike was a real treat. This trip has certainly shown me a lot of new fitting ideas and will help to improve my service to my customers.

BikeMotion - Holland

BikeMotion is the number 1 bike show aimed at the bike industry in Holland and Belgium. These countries are considered the home of cycling and it was a great opportunity to visit.

So what takes me to Holland?

Teschner frames had a stand at the show and I was invited along to help out for 2 days. It gave me the chance to meet the Teschner Test Team riders and visit the HQ for Europe. The traders and public embraced the brand in this very traditional cycling country and reinforced the quality of the product. This was an excellent bike show with products and brands not so readily available in the UK.

Cervelo Test Team rider visits Inspired Cycling

Philip Deignan of CERVELO has just visited to have his new bike fitted. Philip had heard of the Retul system in Europe and its connections with Team Sky and Radio Shack. He was delighted to be able to have a fitting so close to home having recently returned to Ireland from the Tour of Spain. It was also an exciting day for me as Philip arrived with his new bike for 2011. The news of his new team for next season was to be announced later that day but it was great to have taken his new Trek 6.9 Madone from the boot of his car and realise his new team to be none other than Lance Armstrong's RADIO SHACK.

Philip has strong ambitions for 2011 and wants to leave no stone unturned in his search for participation in his first Tour de France. Once again I was able to analyse his data and make changes to give him a better position on his new Trek.

London Bike Show - Earls Court, London

The London show is your local international bike show and well worth a visit. I attended the show to discuss with chosen suppliers the possibility of stocking their ergonomic products in the bike fitting studio. This would allow me to offer a range of recovery and nutritional products to enhance the rider's well-being.

Another exciting meeting arranged at the show was with "Cycling Weekly". The technical team wanted to talk about the new Teschner range with the possibility of including a feature in an up-coming magazine... watch this space!!!!

Conor Murphy - World Triathlon Champion!!!!

Congratulations Conor what a fantastic achievement so quickly.

EUROBIKE, Friedrichshafen, Germany

The largest bike show in the world takes place in Germany. For 5 days traders from all over the world come to the show to see what's new for the following year.

I travelled to Germany to meet up with the TESCHNER team to discuss Inspired Cycling's involvement with this unique brand. I was very fortunate that Peter Teschner was there and I gained valuable experience and knowledge for my time with his team. As Peter is so well respected in the Cycling world it allowed me meet some of his colleagues, amongst them Phil White of Cervelo. It was a pleasure to meet the man behind the famous brand. Lots of the worlds leading professional cyclists, triathletes and mountain bikers visit the show to pour over what is on offer from all the major brands

This show is open to the public for one day but be warned, I had 3 days there and I still did not get to see everything.

Finally it is good to report my links with TESCHNER carbon frames and the fact that Inspired Cycling has been chosen to represent the brand in the UK and Ireland.

Hot tip for World Triathlon Championship!

During his preparations for the World short course Triathlon Championships, Conor Murphy from Portadown, visited Inspired Cycling to have his position analysed in the hope that he would have a better chance in Budapest. Current European Champion, Conor, is a hot tip for the title and knew his position could be improved upon. Every improvement could ultimately lead to him realising his dream.

Big changes were made and Conor was to use the new position at his up-coming training camp in Switzerland to work on his bike technique. The changes were drastic but Conor felt an immediate improvement before leaving the studio.

Good luck in Budapest!!!

An Post - Sean Kelly Rider gets fitted!

Ronan McLaughlin of the An Post - Sean Kelly Professional Cycling Team came to the studio to have his Principia bike fitted before returning to Belgium after a crash where he broke his wrist. Making the most of his disrupted season, Ronan wanted to go back to Belgium and quickly get back to racing at the top level. The fitting proved that changes could be made to improve overall performance. The changes were noticed immediately and this helped Ronan to achieve his goals for the remainder of the 2010 season.

Inspired Cycling opens its doors!

The dream of finally having a fitting studio has been realised. A lot of hard work and effort can pay off and today I have achieved something I have dreamt about for a very long time.

Inspired Cycling at RETUL UNIVERSITY, Denver, Colorado, USA

To become a certified Retul fitter I travelled to their main studio in Denver, Colorado to take part in their own in-house training programme. This was taken by Todd Carver, who is one of the leading experts in bike fitting. Todd has fitted everyone in the world of cycling and his database is a 'who's who' of the cycling world. Only when Todd was completely happy with my progress and competency as a fitter would he certify me. This was a very special moment as I became only the second certified fitter in the UK and the first in Ireland.

During my time with Todd and his team I realised that Retul had a very special and powerful system to best measure cyclists, from all disciplines, and provide accurate data that can be used to make changes to a riding position.

The learning must continue, as each year certified fitters must complete an audit and an exam to renew their certification.

Meeting with Kevin Livingstone, 6 times Tour de France rider. Texas USA

As part of the development of Inspired Cycling, Chris met with Kevin Livingstone of PEDAL HARD. Kevin runs his training and fitting studio from the basement of Lance Armstrong's MELLOW JOHNNY'S bike shop. The studio was established to provide the local cycling community with state of the art fitting and coaching facilities. This was the perfect place to see what Inspired Cycling's long term plans could look like.

The added bonus of visiting Kevin was spending time in "Mellow Johnny's". The shop does not let you down with the best in bikes and lots of memorabilia from Lance's exploits in the Tour de France.

If you ever get the chance to visit, make time to have a cup of coffee in Mellow Johnny's coffee shop, Juan Pelota. This serves Lance's own blend of coffee which tastes fantastic!
